Day 33 of God’s Love

Day 33 of God’s Love for Us

December 7, 2017

Why did Jesus Christ die on the cross? I think Paul put it it very plainly in his letter to the Galatians,  when he wrote,  “It was for freedom that Christ set us free (died); therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery”(Galatians 5:1 NASB). There were 613 laws for the Hebrews during Jesus’ time. He narrowed that down to “Love God” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.” When He said this, Jesus opened the door for you and I and all the world to join his kingdom.

The “yoke of slavery” was the 613 laws. It is also putting more value in material stuff than people. I dont believe there is any higher calling than teaching someone else how to better themselves, so that they don’t put on the “yoke of slavery” again. If we understand Jesus’ intentions, to have unconditional love for each other, as determined by our behaviors and actions; there would be no more fear, hatred, or anxiety.

Slavery is bondage and oppression. Slavery is also a choice that people make to not take responsibility to learn how to improve themselves or their situation. Slavery is also the choice of not accepting the help of others or doing the work necessary to improve.

Jesus is the key to freedom. Jesus is the light in the darkness of oppression and slavery. To “treat others the same as you want them to treat you,” (Matt 7:12), is the most powerful law in the world, it is the law of reaping and sowing. Jesus gave us insight to this law to encourage us to have more and become more by sowing better seeds.
