There’s Comfort in Silence

There is Comfort in Silence

– June 15, 2017 –

How can we hear through all this noise? There’s so much chattering noise in the world today that people can’t just rest and hear what’s going on around them.

The noise seems to be louder in the urban areas rather than the rural areas as we would think. Although that is very true in the sense of noise in general, the real noise is within our homes, within our head.

I’ve witnessed the real problem to be the noise within our own house. The TV shows and movies we watch affect our language, how we see each other, and how we talk to each other. Once that noise gets into our head, and takes root, it clouds our vision, and then it comes out of our mouths.

Once it comes out of our mouth, we can’t take it back. Then it really becomes noise in our head that we keep replaying over and over and over. This noise in our head of how somebody did something to us, or we did something to somebody else, begins to become brokenness. A broken pot can’t hold water.

The Japanese modeled an art form called Kintsugi, after God. They take broken pottery and put it back together with gold and resin to show the cracks, but yet, turn them into scars and make the pottery whole again.

That’s what God does to us when we let Him into our lives. If we would only filter the noise coming into our lives through God, then we could let God heal us and make us whole again. Habakkuk stated it very plainly when he said, “But the Lord is in His holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before Him.”(Hab 2:20)

How do we put more God into our lives? It starts with gratitude. Wake up in the morning and be grateful for what you have, be grateful for what you can see, for what you can do. Be grateful for what you have done instead of beating yourself up for what you haven’t done. Gratitude silences the noise in our head.

God is all around us, accept this fact. Notice Him.  Be grateful for Him. Then the noise that comes out of you will be kinder, and more gracious toward others.

Blessings to you today 🙂

  • Yes sir. It’s really true that you are what you eat. So I eat God’s word every day. Good share Ezra!
