Run, Run, Run Always Run

Run, Run, Run Always Run

July 7, 2017

What happens when we are always running?
Why do we do this to ourselves?
What are we hoping to gain?

A fast paced life of overachieving or a fast paced life of underachieving is gained by all who seek this lifestyle. But really, when overachieving we tend to miss simplicity and value, while underachieving we miss greatness and fulfillment. We tend to either seek instant gratification, or chase our tails looking for lasting gratification.

The truth is, gratification comes with reflection. Reflection comes with observation. Observation comes with rest. Matthew said, ”…seek and you will find…”(Matt 7:7) Seek what though? If we seek the instant gratification of this world, we miss the simplicity and value of God all around us. If we seek the end of our tail by doing the same meaningless task everyday, then we miss the greatness and fulfillment of the ever present God all around us.

We should seek to observe what God has done all around us. From the simplicity of the colors of vegetation, to the cool breeze, to the continuous flow of the streams and rivers. If we don’t appreciate the things we easily take for granted, how could we ever see the truly amazing things that God has done?

Take a break once in while, and be grateful for what God has done and given to you. When we take a break and rest, we allow God to heal and restore us. God thought six days of work was enough. Why should we think any different? There is “peace like a river” in gratification. There is glory to God in appreciating what He has done.
