Song of the Day #5
“I Look Up” by We Are Messengers
We all want to feel like we’re on top at some point in our lives, and those around us need to listen and be obedient to us. Whether that is our kids, our employees, our students, etc. This song woke me up playing in my head. Part of it says, “I want that feeling of being on the mountain top, but when I’m looking down, I’m not looking up.”
I think leadership should be one hand towards whomever we want to listen to us, to pull them up to the level of understanding that we have; while the other hand is pointing up, signifying there is a higher level still to be obtained, and a hand in hand journey to get there.
That higher level is always toward Jesus. He is always looking down on us, while “hanging on a tree.” When we forget that, then we’re just on a mountain top alone, looking down on others as a self serving dictator, not a Christ centered leader.
Let this song resonate with you for a while, maybe even a lifetime.
Much love.
