Jealousy
– May 24, 2017 –
Jealousy can be such a slippery slope. It can take your mind and subject your body to places and things that you had no idea about. It can lead to prison through theft and murder, or it can lift you to great riches and the love of money.
“You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” (James 4:2-3)
These all are when jealousy turns to envy. All of which are tools of Satan to take us away from God. “Do not be overcome by evil (Satan’s attributes), but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21)
We all have someone is this world that we either physically look like, or act like, or want to be like. The highest compliment anyone could give us, rather than: “you’re beautiful,” or “you’re handsome,” or “you’re so smart,” is “I see Jesus in you,” or “Thank you Jesus for using you.”
We can overcome evil with love, appreciation, thankfulness, and self control. These are the ways that Jesus encourages us to deal with jealousy and envy.
Understand that God may be using that other person for His glory to get to you. Then He can begin to use you to reach someone else.
