God’s Word is Good

What do you think when you hear a toddler say, “Enormous” and it has an idea of what that means? What would you think of the parents? Would you wonder what they are teaching the child? Sure you would. I would, we all would more than likely. God gave us language to be able to communicate with others. God gave us His word to know Him. He gave us His son Jesus to be able to communicate with Him.
Enormous is the volume of knowledge and wisdom contained in these 66 books. Written over a span of more than 2000 years, and completed almost 2000 years ago, that’s enormously impressive! From beginning to end, God’s word is pure and true and unchanging. In Deuteronomy, before Moses led the Hebrews into the promised land of Israel, he commanded the people to know God’s word so that they could teach it to their children and grandchildren.
He commanded them to know “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.”(Deut 6:5) He then went so far to say they “shall bind them as a sign on their hand and on their forehead.” And “you shall write them on the door posts of your houses and your gates.”(Deut 6:8-9)
If we went that far to know that commandment of Moses, we would be very committed. That would have an “Enormous” impact on the world around us. God would look down and say “that is very good!” We were His last creation on the sixth day. That’s when He said “it was very good.”(Gen1:31) We can encourage God to say we are very good when we do our best to live by Jesus’ commandments, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind… and “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”(Matt 22:37,39) That’s not an “Enormous” task, or is it? Blessings to you.
