Day 37 of God’s Love

Day 37 of God’s Love for Us

December 22, 2017

Today’s demonstration of God’s love comes from song by Matt Maher called “Hold Us Together.” I believe that God has used Matt and many others to write songs that point to Jesus. In this song, Matt points us directly to Jesus’ two greatest commandments, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. And “The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself'” (Matthew 22:37, 39 NASB).

Now Matt Maher’s lyrics that touched me to demonstrate this is:

“I will be my brother’s keeper, so the whole world will know that we’re not alone.”

If we live by Jesus’ two commandments, then the whole world will know that they’re not alone and we will look back on our life and feel fulfilled. As Christmas appoaches, and winter has shown signs of being here, remember this, love warms from the inside out. More often than not, people just need to feel loved and that someone cares about them. Christmas makes us think of others for a short period of time, but what could the world be like if we showed that love and thoughtfulness everyday of the year?

Matt Maher cited the scripture, “For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother” (Matthew 12:50). This scripture implies that we are all brothers and sisters and family. What if we put aside our differences and our judgments and start treating everyone as family? Here is what will happen, “The whole world will know that we’re (they’re) not alone.” “Rise my brothers and sisters for this matter is your responsibility, Be courageous and take action” (Ezra 10:4). If we take responsibility for someone outside of our household, then, like wildfires spread, we could all know that “we’re not alone” because we will feel and know that someone else has our back.
