Day 35 of God’s Love for Us
December 15, 2017
In your moment of struggle, remember these words, “For a brief moment I forsook you, but with great compassion I will gather you. In an outburst of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting lovingkindness I will have compassion on you,” says the Lord your Redeemer (Isaiah 54:7-8 NASB). The Lord is good, He will test you to strengthen you, and He will discipline you when you think you don’t need Him.
If we look at our struggles as discipline, instead of as ‘the end of the world’; and we seek God for forgiveness, then “He is faithful to forgive”(1 John 1:9) When we see our struggles as discipline, then we see God as a father and as a teacher. No parent or teacher holds a grudge because they discipline a child, nor should any child hold a grudge for being justly disciplined. Just because we’ve been chastised and sent to time out, doesn’t mean we can never play again. When we seek Him, then he will help us make things right.
“No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; and every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the Servants of the Lord, and their vindication is from me,” declares the Lord” (Isaiah 54:17)
This is His promise to Isaiah about Israel. It is also His promise to us, as His children.
