Day 11 of God’s Love for Us
August 1, 2017
I read an interesting article by Derek Harvey entitled, “The Silent Marriage Killer.” As I read this, it made me think of our marriage with Jesus. He is the bridegroom, and we as followers are His bride. Harvey pointed out that unmet expectations are the root of most problems. I totally agree.
He made a formula that says “EXPECTATION – OBSERVATION = FRUSTRATION.”
We are human, so therefore, we have expectations; of others, of our spouses and children, of our abilities, and of our faith. When we don’t observe those expectations getting totally met, we are faced with frustration. Small frustrations tend to compound over time and build. Can we all agree on that? Good! Without expectations, life would truly be meaningless. We are expected to glorify God with the gifts and talents that He has given us. That is my wholehearted opinion.
Back to the original idea of our marriage with Jesus. By following Jesus, we choose to see and seek Him in all our situations, thus, our level of observation goes up, and our level of frustration goes down. If our frustration goes down, our quality of life goes up, our relationships blossom, and our faith increases. Its all a matter of what we choose to observe.
