David and Our Roots
– July 15, 2017 –
We all know the story of David. As a youth he killed Goliath. Goliath was over 9ft tall. Some stories say he was less than 10, other stories say he was a young teenager. David became the greatest King of Israel because He followed God and believed His words and felt His presence. David didn’t let Goliath intimidate him.
Israel was founded on acknowledgement of God. He was their very root system of sustaining life and direction. Wasn’t He the root system of our Founding Fathers as well? God was mentioned at least 3 times in the Declaration of Independence. God was also studied and known in our school systems until the 1960’s. I think it’s refreshing that the root of God is deep and wide and expansive like the roots of the Sequoia trees. Sequoia’s are 300ft tall.
Are we prepared for the next uprising? We can feel it and see it all around us. Satan is “stirring the pot,” trying to lengthen his dominion over this world. He is trying to remove God from our lives so that we forget about Him. But God is the root of this world and cannot be killed. We are so naive to think that we as humans can get rid of God. God let Israel think the same thoughts. Then a new ruler would come to the throne and read their history and see things are better with God.
We are following Israel’s historical cycle. We need to remember our root, and talk about Him more. When we include God in our daily lives, life will have more meaning. David knew he was destined for greatness, because God was with him. If we purposely bring God into our lives, we will have eternal greatness. Today we see our problems as huge, like 9ft tall Goliath, but isn’t a 300ft tall God, who’s on your side if you ask Him, bigger? Blessings to you.
